BR4DQ: A methodology for classifying business rules for data quality evaluation

Colleagues from the spin-offs AQCLab and DQTeam, together with members of the Alarcos Research Group have published the article "BR4DQ: A methodology for classifying business rules for data quality evaluation" in the journal Information Systems.

The article presents a methodology for classifying business rules for data, aligned with ISO/IEC 25012 and oriented to the preparation of organisations for the evaluation of the data quality of their repositories based on this standard.

The specification of the business rules that apply to a data repository is one of the inputs for the data quality assessment based on ISO/IEC 25000. These business rules are the set of atomic requirements, either structural or behavioural, that describe the constraints that apply to the data and that make it possible to determine its validity and its suitability for the objectives of the company that owns the data repository.

The methodology presented in the article is based on the grouping of business rules according to the selected data quality characteristics, with the aim of optimising the data quality measurement process, and driving and optimising the improvement of data quality.
